SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Louis E. Hazelwood of Jerseyville, who passed away on January 11, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Louis Hazelwood was born in Jacksonville to Edward and Velma Reveal Hazelwood on March 5, 1938; he graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1956 and served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960; and

WHEREAS, Louis Hazelwood worked at Oscar Mayer in Beardstown for several years before purchasing the Kampsville Inn in 1984, where he dedicated the next 32 years of his life; he was a previous owner of the Boatel in Naples; and

WHEREAS, Louis Hazelwood enjoyed collecting coins, boating on the river with his family and friends, and spending time at his condo in Florida; most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family; he loved his dogs, Lulu and Coco; and

WHEREAS, Louis Hazelwood was preceded in death by his parents; his infant brother, Larry Hazelwood; and his sister, Wanda Prather; and

WHEREAS, Louis Hazelwood is survived by his companion of 36 years, Betty Kuhlman; his daughters, Leslie (Levi) Rogers, and Tracy (Richard) Hatfield; his sons, Noel (Katya) Hazelwood, and Todd (Kathy) Hazelwood; Betty's children, David Kuhlman, Scott Kuhlman, and Terry (Thelma) Kuhlman; his grandchildren, Megan and Zach Hatfield, Caitlyn, Emily, and Carlton Hazelwood, Makenzie Hazelwood, and Tiffany, Dillon, and Chris Kuhlman; four great-grandchildren; his niece, Mary (Charlie) Freeman; and his nephew, Larry (Amy) Prather; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Louis E. Hazelwood, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Louis Hazelwood as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
