SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John Raymond Olbrich of Claremont,
4Minnesota, who passed away on July 20, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Olbrich was born in Harvard to Raymond and
6Elsie (Ottens) Olbrich on March 7, 1933; he attended South
7Dunham Grade School and Harvard High School; he married Celia
8Whitt in Harvard on September 6, 1952 and served in the United
9States Army from 1954 to 1956; and
 
10    WHEREAS, John Olbrich and his wife lived in Kirkland,
11Washington for a short while before returning to Harvard in
12June of 1956, where they continued farming; they opened their
13home to several foster daughters and continued to foster girls
14from Illinois after they moved to Claremont in December of
151968; John was employed at Owatonna Manufacturing Company for
16many years and later at Triton High School; he retired in 2000;
17and
 
18    WHEREAS, John Olbrich was active in 4-H in Illinois and
19Minnesota; he served on the school board in Harvard and was a
20member of the Farm Bureau and the Pure Milk Association; he
21enjoyed woodworking and visiting with family and friends; he
22was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Claremont; and

1    WHEREAS, John Olbrich was preceded in death by his parents;
2his wife, Celia; his sister, Dorothy Kleckner; his
3sisters-in-law, Janis Olbrich and Marilyn Olbrich; and his
4brother-in-law, Jim Roach; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Olbrich is survived by his children, David
6(Lori) Olbrich, Carrie (Steve) Laue, Allison (Craig) Ross, and
7Carol Liming; his grandchildren, Danielle (Tony) Bower,
8Michael Laue, Ryan (Breanna) Laue, Andrea (Chris) Franko,
9Margaret (Ryan Huddleston) Olbrich, John (Courtney) Liming,
10Brandon (Paige) Ross, and Samantha Liming; nine
11great-grandchildren; his brothers, Jake Olbrich and Bill
12Olbrich; his sister, Marjorie (Midge) Roach; and his extended
13family, including foster daughters, Donna (Randy) Hagen and
14their four daughters and six grandchildren, Janet (Larry)
15Hermanson and their two children, and Mary (Kevin) Anderson and
16their two children; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19John Raymond Olbrich of Claremont, and extend our sincere
20condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
21him; and be it further
 
22    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
