SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mildred Gieseke of Crystal Lake, who
4passed away on July 17, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mildred Gieseke was born in Oak Park to Joseph E.
6and Marie (Blum) Smida on September 24, 1918; her family moved
7to Fox River Grove where she attended grade school and then
8graduated from Crystal Lake Community High School in 1936; she
9married Lester F. Gieseke in 1939; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Mildred Gieseke graduated from the Moser Beauty
11School and opened The Swirl & Curl Beauty Shop on the second
12floor of Gieseke's Department Store in Crystal Lake; she
13operated the beauty shop until late 1946; she and Lester worked
14together in Gieseke's until its fabric department was split off
15in the mid-1950s and she opened The Fabric Shop; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Mildred Gieseke was active in the Ambassadors and
17Service League; she enjoyed travel, painting, needlework, word
18search puzzles, water skiing, and fishing with friends and
19family on Crystal Lake; she also enjoyed spending time with her
20friend and care-giver, Jadwiga "JJ" Jaworska and the frequent
21visits from her longtime friend and business colleague,
22Christie Pfeiffer; her loving cat, Minky, was a source of joy

1and entertainment; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Mildred Gieseke was preceded in death by her
3parents and her husband, Lester; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Mildred Gieseke is survived by her daughters,
5Leslie (John) Bose and Lisa Sadlik; her grandchildren, Adam
6(Colleen) Sadlik and Kara (Eric) Martin; her
7great-granddaughter, Rocklyn; and her son-in-law, Gary Sadlik;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Mildred Gieseke, and extend our sincere condolences to her
12family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Mildred Gieseke as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
