| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | 3 | | learn of the death of John M. Delaney Jr. of Brighton, who | 4 | | passed away on August 2, 2017; and
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Delaney was born in Alton to John M. "Jack" | 6 | | Sr. and Joan (Galloway) Delaney on August 14, 1956; he | 7 | | graduated from Marquette Catholic High School in 1974 and | 8 | | attended St. Louis University and the St. Louis University | 9 | | School of Law; and
| 10 | | WHEREAS, John Delaney practiced law for over 35 years and, | 11 | | since 1997, was the sole practitioner at the Law Offices of | 12 | | John M. Delaney, Jr.; he was also an instructor in the Criminal | 13 | | Justice Department at Lewis and Clark Community College for | 14 | | many years; and
| 15 | | WHEREAS, John Delaney was a loving and devoted father, | 16 | | companion, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend; he was | 17 | | known for his witty humor, his explosive ability to burst out | 18 | | in song at any time, and most of all for his big heart; and
| 19 | | WHEREAS, John Delaney was preceded in death by his parents | 20 | | and his brother-in-law, Pete Herbig; and

| 1 | | WHEREAS, John Delaney is survived by his special love, | 2 | | Elle; his children, Maggie (Lance) Dillinger, Vicki (Mike) | 3 | | Sutton, and Marty (Alice) Delaney; his grandchildren, Chloe | 4 | | Dillinger, Kole and Callie Sutton, and his soon to be fourth | 5 | | grandchild; his sister, Kathy Herbig; his nephews, Andrew | 6 | | (Emily), Sam, and Will Herbig; his "bonus" children, Nathan, | 7 | | Brandon, Arynne, and Andrew; his "bonus" granddaughter, Averi; | 8 | | his first wife, Julie (Spurgeon) Beckham; and numerous other | 9 | | family and friends; therefore, be it
| 10 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | 11 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 12 | | John M. Delaney Jr., and extend our sincere condolences to his | 13 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 14 | | further
