SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Barbara Yvonne "Rabbit" Oliver, who
4passed away on August 8, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Barbara Oliver was born in Chicago to Earl and Eva
6Wallace on August 6, 1948; she was baptized at an early age and
7was a member of Holy Family Church in Chicago; she attended
8Crane High School and was professionally trained as a vocalist
9at Harold Washington College; she majored in early childhood
10development at Roosevelt University, which led to a teaching
11position at the ABLA Day Care Center; she married John Quincy
12Oliver Jr. on May 11, 1968; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Barbara Oliver had a natural artistic flare, which
14was evident in her poetry, still life artwork, and murals; she
15designed custom greeting cards and logos; she taught herself
16how to play the piano while also inspiring children to do the
17same; she had a great love of children and dreamed of being a
18foster parent; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Barbara Oliver was kind, patient, understanding,
20caring, nurturing, and supportive; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Barbara Oliver was preceded in death by her

1parents; and her close friend, Delores; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Barbara Oliver is survived by her daughter,
3Felicia "Lisa" Oliver; her sister, Beverly Harris; her brother
4"Jimmy" (Jewell) Wallace; her nephew, Dana (Tammy) Harris; her
5great nephews, Kylan Harris, Kameron Harris, and Kendel Harris;
6her niece, Danielle Wallace; her adopted niece, Janita; and her
7adopted nephew, Turon; and her close friends Lois and Loretta;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Barbara Yvonne Oliver, and extend our sincere condolences to
12her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Barbara Oliver as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
