SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Barbara Yvonne "Rabbit" Oliver, who passed away on August 8, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Oliver was born in Chicago to Earl and Eva Wallace on August 6, 1948; she was baptized at an early age and was a member of Holy Family Church in Chicago; she attended Crane High School and was professionally trained as a vocalist at Harold Washington College; she majored in early childhood development at Roosevelt University, which led to a teaching position at the ABLA Day Care Center; she married John Quincy Oliver Jr. on May 11, 1968; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Oliver had a natural artistic flare, which was evident in her poetry, still life artwork, and murals; she designed custom greeting cards and logos; she taught herself how to play the piano while also inspiring children to do the same; she had a great love of children and dreamed of being a foster parent; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Oliver was kind, patient, understanding, caring, nurturing, and supportive; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Oliver was preceded in death by her parents; and her close friend, Delores; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Oliver is survived by her daughter, Felicia "Lisa" Oliver; her sister, Beverly Harris; her brother "Jimmy" (Jewell) Wallace; her nephew, Dana (Tammy) Harris; her great nephews, Kylan Harris, Kameron Harris, and Kendel Harris; her niece, Danielle Wallace; her adopted niece, Janita; and her adopted nephew, Turon; and her close friends Lois and Loretta; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Barbara Yvonne Oliver, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Barbara Oliver as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
