SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Alberta Thompson-Herod, who passed away
4on August 11, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Alberta Thompson-Herod was born in Lafayette
6County, Abbeville, Mississippi to Epsie Turner and McEwen
7Farmer on August 29, 1928; she was raised by her mother and
8stepfather, Wallace Thompson; she married James "Claude" Herod
9in 1947; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Alberta Thompson-Herod worked at Lewis College
11for 38 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Alberta Thompson-Herod confessed her hope in
13Christ at an early age; she was a member of Providence
14Methodist Church in Abbeville, Mississippi; she moved to Joliet
15and united with Brown Chapel African Methodist Episcopal
16Church, which she faithfully supported; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Alberta Thompson-Herod was preceded in death by
18her parents; her husband; and her son, Willie Earl; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Alberta Thompson-Herod is survived by her
20daughters, Stella A. Nucklos and Frankie F. Logan; her brother,

1Pete (Artis) Thompson; her devoted brother-in-law, Johnnie
2(Daisy) Herod; her grandchildren, Carlene Griffin, Rhonda
3(Allen) Griffin-Dantzler, Pamela (Jerry) Brown, Marvin Green,
4and Alvin Green; her seven great-grandchildren; two
5great-great-grandchildren; two special nephews, Johnnie
6(Regina) Herod Jr. and Levester Smith; several nieces, nephews,
7cousins, and friends; her special friend of over 60 years,
8Martha Harris; and two special helpers, Bertha Young and Johnny
9Young; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Alberta Thompson-Herod, and extend our sincere condolences to
13her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Alberta Thompson-Herod as an
17expression of our deepest sympathy.
