SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Shirley Wade, who passed away on August
415, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Shirley Wade was born in Corinth, Mississippi to
6Joel "Dr. JoJo" Adams and Delette Spence on October 27, 1947;
7she was cared for by her grandparents, Myles "Papa" and Ivra
8"Mother" Spence, who taught her the morals, values, and loving,
9kind ways for which she will be remembered; she received Christ
10at a young age; in 1961, she relocated to Illinois and attended
11Proviso East High School, where she met the love of her life,
12Paul; they married and had a daughter; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Shirley Wade worked at Navistar International
14Corporation (formerly International Harvester) for over thirty
15years; upon her retirement, she became a full-time employee of
16Wade's Liquor and Grocery Store, an entrepreneurial venture she
17began with her husband in 1984; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Shirley Wade served on many boards and committees,
19including the Paysaver Credit Union and the Boys and Girls Club
20of Maywood; she was a founding member of the Spice of Life
21social club; and

1    WHEREAS, Shirley Wade was preceded in death by her father;
2and her grandparents; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Shirley Wade is survived by her husband; her
4mother, Delette (Richard) Olson, her daughter, Shawn; her
5granddaughter, Jazzmine; her great-grandson, Carter; her
6sister, aunt, and other half, Phebe; her sister, Michelle
7Bankhead; her adopted grandchildren, Annette, Xavier, Brandy,
8Valeda, Alishea, Patricia, and Kennedy; and many friends;
9therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Shirley Wade, and extend our sincere condolences to her family,
13friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Shirley Wade as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
