SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James Francis "Jim" Kammer, who passed
4away on May 31, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Kammer was born in Freeport to Eliza J.
6(Schauer) and Ernest Kammer on December 19, 1943; he attended
7Freeport schools and his favorite and most influential
8experience while growing up was working with his father on the
9Illinois Central Railroad; he entered Northwestern University
10in 1961; he attended medical school at the University of
11Illinois, where he met his wife, Barbara, graduating in 1969;
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, James Kammer performed his residency in
14ophthalmology with the Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary,
15finishing in 1973; he received a Master of Business Arts and a
16Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois, where he was
17inducted into Phi Kappa Phi; he practiced in Florida and then
18Decatur; he served as an examiner for the American Board of
19Ophthalmology; and
 
20    WHEREAS, James Kammer had a love of politics and was a
21delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention; he also
22had a love of history and enjoyed gaining new insights into

1historical perspectives of the Old Testament at the Urbana
2Theological Seminary; and
 
3    WHEREAS, James Kammer was preceded in death by his parents
4and an infant brother; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Kammer is survived by his wife, Barbara; his
6sons, Christopher and Nicholas; and his brothers, William and
7Richard; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10James Francis "Jim" Kammer, and extend our sincere condolences
11to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
12it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of James Kammer as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
