SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Retail bakeries embody the spirit of American entrepreneurs; they are typically local, family-owned and operated businesses; many have spanned multiple generations; they are an integral part of every community and are often present at breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as all major life events and celebrations from birth to marriage to death; and

WHEREAS, The inaugural National Bakery Day is September 28, 2017 and is sponsored by the Retail Bakers of America; founded in 1918, the Retail Bakers of America is a non-profit trade association committed to the success of the retail bakery industry; and

WHEREAS, National Bakery Day is a day to recognize and celebrate the long tradition of local retail bakeries in communities across America; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we declare September 28, 2017 as National Bakery Day in the State of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Retail Bakers of America.
