SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Robbie C. Shoemaker Heitzman of Moline,
4who passed away on August 29, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robbie Heitzman was born in Nashville, Tennessee
6to Pallie Pack and Charlie Morris on July 9, 1924; she moved to
7Chicago at the age of three with her mother and graduated from
8South Shore High School; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Robbie Heitzman worked for the New York Central
10Railroad before joining the United States Navy WAVES (Women
11Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service) during World War II
12serving in communication intelligence as a telegrapher 3rd
13class; after her discharge in 1946, she attended the University
14of Illinois; she married George Shoemaker Jr. in Chicago on
15June 14, 1947; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Robbie Heitzman worked with her husband in the
17home building industry, where she decorated many show houses;
18she later worked for the United States Army Corps of Engineers
19in the Contracting Division, retiring in 1990; she founded a
20catering service from which she retired in 1999; after the
21passing of her first husband, she married Dale Heitzman in Rock
22Island on July 17, 1999; and

1    WHEREAS, Robbie Heitzman was active in the National
2Association of Home Builders Auxiliary, serving as a local,
3state, and national president and remained a Life Director; she
4was a member and elder of South Park Presbyterian Church; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Robbie Heitzman was preceded in death by her first
6husband, George; her second husband, Dale; and her grandsons,
7Brett Andrew Shoemaker and Christen Thiel Shoemaker; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Robbie Heitzman is survived by her children, Dr.
9Craig (Janet) Shoemaker, Dawn (Blair) Gorsuch, and Kenn (Kathy)
10Shoemaker; her stepchildren, Patti Heitzman and Terry
11Heitzman; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Robbie C. Shoemaker Heitzman, and extend our sincere
16condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
17her; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Robbie Heitzman as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
