SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of William "Bill" Mego of Naperville, who
4passed away on September 1, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, William Mego was born in Chicago to Captain
6"Butch" and Edna Mego on January 25, 1944 and moved to
7Naperville in 1951; and
 
8    WHEREAS, William Mego was a biologist with a Ph.D. in
9Molecular Biophysics; he was an adjunct professor at University
10of Illinois Chicago, teaching genetics and specializing in
11research into the molecular structure of DNA; he was a
12researcher at Argonne National Laboratory in bio-remediation
13of hazardous waste sites, applying technology to manufacturing
14problems, and in removing impurities from coal; he was awarded
15a patent on biphasic extraction of hazardous waste from
16manufacturing streams; he was also an adjunct professor of art
17at The Art Institute of Chicago, where he taught computer
18graphics and robotics; and
 
19    WHEREAS, William Mego wrote a free-lance weekly opinion
20column for the Naperville Sun Newspaper from 1988 until
21September of 2017 and helped shape public opinions on many
22issues; he was also the author of "The Limbus of the Moon"; for

1many years, he was the Naperville representative for the
2Salvation Army; born on the south side of Chicago, he was a
3true fan of the Chicago White Sox; and
 
4    WHEREAS, William Mego was preceded in death by his parents;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, William Mego is survived by his wife, Nancy
7(Straubing); his sons, Will Mego (Jessica) and Tim Straubing
8(Cassandra); his daughter, Kim Straubing: and his grandsons,
9Marcus Precht, Joseph Precht, and Wyatt Straubing; therefore,
10be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13William "Bill" Mego, and extend our sincere condolences to his
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of William Mego as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
