SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of William "Bill" Mego of Naperville, who passed away on September 1, 2017; and

WHEREAS, William Mego was born in Chicago to Captain "Butch" and Edna Mego on January 25, 1944 and moved to Naperville in 1951; and

WHEREAS, William Mego was a biologist with a Ph.D. in Molecular Biophysics; he was an adjunct professor at University of Illinois Chicago, teaching genetics and specializing in research into the molecular structure of DNA; he was a researcher at Argonne National Laboratory in bio-remediation of hazardous waste sites, applying technology to manufacturing problems, and in removing impurities from coal; he was awarded a patent on biphasic extraction of hazardous waste from manufacturing streams; he was also an adjunct professor of art at The Art Institute of Chicago, where he taught computer graphics and robotics; and

WHEREAS, William Mego wrote a free-lance weekly opinion column for the Naperville Sun Newspaper from 1988 until September of 2017 and helped shape public opinions on many issues; he was also the author of "The Limbus of the Moon"; for many years, he was the Naperville representative for the Salvation Army; born on the south side of Chicago, he was a true fan of the Chicago White Sox; and

WHEREAS, William Mego was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, William Mego is survived by his wife, Nancy (Straubing); his sons, Will Mego (Jessica) and Tim Straubing (Cassandra); his daughter, Kim Straubing: and his grandsons, Marcus Precht, Joseph Precht, and Wyatt Straubing; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of William "Bill" Mego, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of William Mego as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
