SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Mario Augusto Estrada, who passed away on
4August 9, 2017 after a noble struggle against cancer; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mario Estrada was born in Chicago to Miguel and
6Lilian Estrada on May 28, 1971; he spent all of his life in,
7and was a proud resident of, the southeast side of Chicago,
8where he attended George Washington High School; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Mario Estrada worked in the trucking industry for
10the majority of his life, eventually becoming an
11owner/operator; he had a passion for the trucking industry and
12his work, both of which became second nature to him; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Mario Estrada was known as an incredibly
14hard-working and reliable man; his priority was his family and
15his greatest passion was caring for his children; whatever they
16needed came first and he put all of his heart into making a
17loving and caring life for them; it was his greatest desire to
18see them strive and succeed; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Mario Estrada was affectionately known as "Papa
20Bear", and like a bear, he was recognized as a protector who
21symbolized courage, physical strength, and leadership; and

1    WHEREAS, Mario Estrada was also noted for having a
2wonderful sense of humor; he got along with everyone he met and
3knew how to put a smile on people's faces with his unique laugh
4and his many jokes; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Mario Estrada was passionate about cars; he had
6collections of both model cars and actual automobiles; he took
7great pleasure in being able to fix and restore one of his
8favorites to his exacting standards; and
 
9    WHEREAS, In 2016, Mario Estrada was diagnosed with cancer
10and underwent surgery; he began donating regularly to the St.
11Jude's Children's Research Hospital as a way to make a
12difference; he did not want children to suffer as badly as he
13had; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Mario Estrada is survived by his wife, Liliana
15Guevara Estrada; his children, Mario Augusto Estrada Jr.,
16Lizbeth Lilian Estrada, Mario Alejandro Estrada, and Julian
17Augusto Estrada; his parents; his siblings, Mayra Estrada,
18Ingrid Izurieta, Marielcy Romero, Claudia Harvey, Susan
19Estrada, Miguel Estrada, and Carla Wenger; and numerous friends
20and family; therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
2Mario Augusto Estrada, and extend our sincere condolences to
3his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
4further
 
5    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Mario Estrada as an expression of
7our deepest sympathy.
