SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lester Boe of Ottawa, who passed away on
4September 5, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lester Boe was born in Wallace Township to Hans
6and Tillie (Dale) Boe on July 27, 1916; he attended the
7one-room school house of Wallace Township through eighth grade;
8he joined the United States Army and served as a mechanic in
9Europe during World War II from 1941-1945; he participated in
10the invasions of North Africa, Sicily, Naples, and Normandy; he
11married Esther Johnson at Hauge Lutheran Church in Chicago on
12November 17, 1945; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Lester Boe farmed in Wallace and Rutland Townships
14and worked for Caterpillar in Aurora until his retirement; he
15then drove a school bus for the Serena Community Unit School
16District #2 for a number of years; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Lester Boe loved farm life, threshing, and
18attending the Sandwich Fair and antique and farm toy shows; he
19created many models of antique farm equipment; he also enjoyed
20camping, fishing, spending time with his family, and going to
21McDonald's for daily coffee breaks; he faithfully attended
22church; and

1    WHEREAS, Lester Boe was preceded in death by his parents;
2his wife, Esther; his brothers, Howard, Tyler, Clarence, and
3Henry Boe; his sisters, Myrtle Alsvig, Alma Osthus, and Marie
4Low; and four siblings in infancy; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Lester Boe is survived by his children, Eugene
6(Gudrun) Boe, Ruth (Larry) Stanford, Russell (Nancy) Boe, and
7Judy (Kevin) Snook; his nine grandchildren; and his 22
8great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Lester Boe, and extend our sincere condolences to his family,
12friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Lester Boe as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
