SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Suzanne Therese Smith, who passed away on September 27, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Suzanne Smith was born in Chicago to Thomas and Rose Boyle on March 29, 1932; she married John Francis "Jack" Smith on November 22, 1958; and

WHEREAS, Suzanne Smith was an avid card player, a lover of music and song, a fan of dessert over dinner and a cold Miller Lite "once in a while"; and

WHEREAS, Suzanne Smith was affectionately known as "Ma Smith"; and

WHEREAS, Suzanne Smith was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents; her children, Kevin and Donald; and her siblings, Maureen, Michael, James, Sharon, and Rosemary; and

WHEREAS, Suzanne Smith is survived by her children, Michael (Diane Peterson) Smith, Sharon (Kristen Bottlemy) Smith, David (Lawrena Colombo) Smith, Susan (Roland) Gagne, Eileen (Christian) Rosel, Brian (Sandy VandeMerkt) Smith, Patrick (Dewayne Gibson) Smith, and Steven (Sarah) Smith; her grandchildren, Alexandria and Augustine Smith; her brother, Thomas (Anne) Boyle; her sister, Patricia Carney; and countless nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Suzanne Therese Smith, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Suzanne Smith as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
