SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

55 ILCS 5/5-1186 new

Amends the Counties Code. Provides that the county board or board of county commissioners of each county may provide for joining the county in membership in the Illinois State Association of Counties and may provide for the payment of annual membership dues and fees. Provides that the member counties acting in the name of the Association may provide and disseminate information and research services and may do all other acts for the purpose of improving local government.

AN ACT concerning local government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by adding Section 5-1186 as follows:

(55 ILCS 5/5-1186 new)

Sec. 5-1186. Illinois State Association of Counties. The county board or board of county commissioners of each county may provide for joining the county in membership in the Illinois State Association of Counties, a nonprofit, statewide association of Illinois counties, and may provide for the payment of annual membership dues and fees. The member counties acting in the name of the Association may provide and disseminate information and research services and may do all other acts for the purpose of improving local government.
