SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jacqueline M. "Jacque" Vail of Tucson,
4Arizona, who passed away on February 1, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jacque Vail was born in Joliet to Raymond and
6Bernice Lowery Fenton on September 20, 1929; her family moved
7to Bloomington when she was a teenager; she graduated from Holy
8Trinity High School; she received her bachelor's and master's
9degrees in home economics from Illinois State University; she
10married William L. Vail at Holy Trinity Church in Bloomington
11on June 16, 1951; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Jacque Vail began her career as a teacher with the
13Armington Public School System; she later became director of
14food service at Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomington;
15she served as director of food service for Bloomington Public
16Schools District 87 from 1969 until her retirement in 1984; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jacque Vail was actively involved in her
18community, her church, and professional organizations
19throughout her life; she was a charter member of the Holy
20Trinity board of education; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Jacque Vail was deeply committed to her Catholic

1faith; she and her husband enjoyed traveling and visited all 50
2states during their marriage; she was proud of her Irish
3heritage and visited her great-grandparents' hometown of
4Dingle in County Kerry, Ireland; she was also an enthusiastic
5home cook and baker; she was noted for her generous
6hospitality; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Jacque Vail was preceded in death by her husband
8of 63 years, William L. Vail, and her brother, Richard Lowery;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Jacqueline Vail is survived by her children,
11Catherine McIntosh, William R. (Debbie Ramirez) Vail, Mary
12(Geoff) Grube, John (Jennifer) Vail, Patricia (Peter) Merna,
13and Elizabeth (Jeff) Brown; her grandchildren, Peter McIntosh,
14Meaghan McIntosh, Laura McIntosh, Emily McIntosh, Jamie Vail,
15Will Vail, Daniel Grube, Michael Grube, Catherine (Tommy)
16McGuire, Judson Vail, Jonathan Vail, Anne (Colin) Reints, Kate
17Merna, Daniel Merna, Molly Brown, and Jake Brown; and her two
18great-granddaughters, Molly and Madeline McGuire; her sister,
19Mary Lu (Bob) Scott; and her brother, Ray (Donna) Fenton;
20therefore, be it
 
21    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
22ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
23Jacqueline M. "Jacque" Vail and extend our sincere condolences

1to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be
2it further
 
3    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
4presented to the family of Jacqueline Vail as an expression of
5our deepest sympathy.
