SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Bruce Edward Donnelly of Barrington, who
4passed away on May 25, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bruce Donnelly was born in Arlington, Virginia to
6Margaret and Edward Donnelly on March 8, 1955; he moved to
7Barrington in 1968 and graduated from Barrington High School in
81973; he later received his master's degree in international
9business from the University of South Carolina; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bruce Donnelly served as a U.S. diplomat under
11President Ronald Reagan; while with the State Department, he
12served both in Pakistan and Germany and learned to speak
13German; as a business consultant, he lived in Brazil and
14learned to speak Portuguese; he traveled a great deal to
15Britain, working on revitalizing its industry in the northern
16part of the country; he later worked for several organizations
17in corporate relocation services; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Bruce Donnelly's interests included travel,
19photography, foreign policy, and politics; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Bruce Donnelly was preceded in death by his
21parents; and

1    WHEREAS, Bruce Donnelly is survived by his wife, Dolores
2Jean (Dietrich); his children, Diana Regin and William Edward;
3his brother, Bob; his sister, Linda (Jody) Hurlburt; and by
4many loving nieces, nephews, and friends; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7Bruce Edward Donnelly and extend our sincere condolences to his
8family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
9further
 
10    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11presented to the family of Bruce Donnelly as an expression of
12our deepest sympathy.
