SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Frederick "Fred" Richard Mason of Port
4Byron, who passed away on June 17, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Fred Mason was born to Fred T. and Ruby (Hadley)
6Mason on December 20, 1929; he graduated from Atkinson High
7School and then attended Illinois Bankers School in Carbondale;
8he married Lillian White in Kewanee on October 14, 1951; Fred
9served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953, working as a medic
10during the Korean War; he was also in the US Army Reserve,
11retiring in 1977; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Fred Mason farmed in the Atkinson area for 12
13years and Leland for two years; he also worked for the Leland
14National Bank from 1967 to 1974 and then served as president of
15the Sugar Grove Bank from 1975 to 1995; and
 
16    WHEREAS, For over 50 years, Fred Mason was a member of the
17American Legion in Sugar Grove and Port Byron; he was also a
18member of the Lions Club; he was a wonderful husband, father,
19grandfather, brother, and friend; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Fred Mason was preceded in death by his parents;
21his wife, Lillian Mason; his son, Darrell Mason; his brother,

1Donald Mason; and his sister, June Mason; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Fred Mason is survived by his children, Kathleen
3(Carl) Burney, Kenneth (Sandra) Mason, Dennis Mason, and Kim
4(Dewinn) Hume; his grandchildren, Tony Gaskin, Terri Just,
5Brooke Grzanich, Ryan, Joshua, and Brandon Mason, Bridgette
6Russell, Brittany Stalling, and Dustin, Jenna, and Logan Hume;
7and his 16 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Frederick Richard Mason and extend our sincere condolences to
11his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Fred Mason as an expression of our
15deepest sympathy.
