SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Morris A. "Morrie" De Geeter of East Moline, who passed away on July 10, 2020 at the age of 101; and

WHEREAS, Morris De Geeter was born in Hartwick, Iowa to Edward and Emma (Van Waes) De Geeter on August 6, 1918; he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and married Patricia "Annie" (Gardiner) Campbell in Moline on August 18, 1987; and

WHEREAS, Morris De Geeter retired from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1304 in 1982, after 25 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Morris De Geeter loved his house and the outdoors; he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing; and

WHEREAS, Morris De Geeter was preceded in death by his parents; his children, Brad Martin De Geeter and Karna O'Neil; his stepdaughter, Barb Campbell; and his siblings, Fred, Victor, and August De Geeter and Ida Vermiere; and

WHEREAS, Morris De Geeter is survived by his wife, Annie; his stepson, Weldon Campbell Jr.; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and his best friend, Little Annie, his Labrador; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Morris A. "Morrie" De Geeter and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Morris De Geeter as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
