SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Paul J. Sternitzke of Springfield, who passed away on July 4, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Paul Sternitzke was born to Paul T. and Gladys (Reichert) Sternitzke on August 12, 1935; he earned his bachelor's degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and then served in the U.S. Army; and

WHEREAS, Paul Sternitzke worked as a civil engineer for the Department of Transportation, retiring in 1997; he was a member of the Capital Chapter of the Society of Professional Engineers and was a licensed professional surveyor; and

WHEREAS, Paul Sternitzke enjoyed playing golf and reading; and

WHEREAS, Paul Sternitzke was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Suzanne Scheibal; and

WHEREAS, Paul Sternitzke is survived by his wife, Barbara Sternitzke; his sons, William (Brenda) and Vincent Sternitzke; his grandchildren, Hanna, Holly, and Carter Sternitzke; his two nieces; and his four nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Paul J. Sternitzke and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Paul Sternitzke as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
