SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dr. Phillip W. "Phil" Conn of Danville,
4who passed away on July 31, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Conn was born in Gary, Indiana to Clyde and
6Hermine Conn on January 29, 1950; he graduated from the Indiana
7University School of Dentistry in 1978; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Dr. Conn Phillip started his practice in Danville
9and practiced dentistry for 42 years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dr. Conn was the former president of the Indiana
11University School of Dentistry Alumni Association and the
12former president of the Danville District Dental Society; he
13was a member of the American Dental Association, the Illinois
14State Dental Society, the Academy of General Dentistry, the
15American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Dean's Society
16of the Indiana University School of Dentistry; he was also one
17of the founding dentists of the free dental services program at
18Danville's first community health clinic, and he volunteered
19his time and services, offering free back to school student
20dental check ups for many years; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Dr. Conn received numerous honors from

1professional and service organizations, including the
2Distinguished Service Award from the Indiana University School
3of Dentistry; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Dr. Conn was an active member of the Second Church
5of Christ in Danville; he took part in two missionary trips to
6the south coast of Africa with his church, where he performed
7dental work in the clinic; he enjoyed spending quality time
8with his family, meeting with friends, walking his dogs,
9traveling, golfing, fishing, hunting, playing the guitar,
10woodworking, gardening, boating, and dancing with his wife; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Dr. Conn was preceded in death by his parents; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Dr. Conn is survived by his wife of 18 years,
13Kandis Conn; his daughters, Stacy (Stephen) Ellis, Leanne
14(William) Moore, and Holly (Thomas) Slaters; his stepdaughter,
15Jennifer (Marek) Dziedzic; his brother, Joseph Conn; his niece,
16Rachel Conn; and seven grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
18ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
19Dr. Phillip W. "Phil" Conn and extend our sincere condolences
20to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
21it further

3deepest sympathy.
