SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Russell E. "Russ" Kalb of Sherman, who
4passed away on September 23, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Russ Kalb was born in Springfield to Russell
6Eugene and Dorothy Mae (Fifer) Kalb on August 1, 1948; he
7graduated from Feitshans High School in 1966 and served with
8the U.S. Army in Vietnam; he fought in the Tet Offensive and
9was honorably discharged in 1970; he married Janet Patkes on
10April 8, 1971; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Russ Kalb joined the Springfield Fire Department
12in 1974 and served for 28 years, retiring as a captain; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Russ Kalb enjoyed golfing, time in the yard, and
14offering his opinions on domestic and international affairs; he
15enjoyed time with his family and friends, making jokes and
16laughing at the jokes he made; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Russ Kalb was preceded in death by his parents and
18his sister, Nancy Kabat; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Russ Kalb is survived by his wife of 49 years,
20Janet; his son, Brian (Julia) Kalb; his daughter, Brenda (Mike)

1Carter; his grandchildren, Grace and Megan Kalb, and Connor and
2Kyle Carter; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Russell E. "Russ" Kalb and extend our sincere condolences to
7his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Russ Kalb as an expression of our
11deepest sympathy.
