SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John M. Dennis of Danvers, who passed away on October 18, 2020; and

WHEREAS, John Dennis was born to Harry and Mary Wall Dennis in Bloomington on September 22, 1930; he graduated from University High School and later attended carpenter apprentice school; he served four years active duty with the U.S. Army and also served with the Illinois Army National Guard, retiring in 1986, for a total of 37 years of service; and

WHEREAS, John Dennis worked as a commercial and residential builder and later worked at Lumber Land and Lumber Lane; and

WHEREAS, John Dennis was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Danvers; and

WHEREAS, John Dennis was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan; he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren; he was a very generous man and provided countless home remodels and repairs for family and friends; and

WHEREAS, John Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sheila Spivey; his brother, Tom (Cathy) Dennis; and his sisters, Christine Beebe and Mary Helen Goetsch; and

WHEREAS, John Dennis is survived by three children, Steve (Nancy) Dennis, John M. "Mike" (Karen) Dennis Jr., and Georgia (Steve) Spivey; his eight grandchildren, Luscina Dennis, Kalle Dennis, Cassie Dennis, Collin Dennis, Amanda Yazell, Andrea (Steve) Fears, Trisha (Mike) Filliman, and Amber (Jared) Monroe; several great-grandchildren; his three brothers, James Dennis, William Dennis, Tim (Susan) Dennis; and his sister, Paulita (Mark) Killian; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John M. Dennis and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Dennis as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
