SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Helen A. Boylan of Bloomington, who passed away on April 11, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Helen Boylan was born in Bloomington to James and Josephine Hayes Gould on June 29, 1936; she attended a one-room schoolhouse in Merna, where her sister was her teacher; she received her bachelor's degree in education from Illinois State Normal University; and

WHEREAS, Helen Boylan worked as a special education teacher in Lombard and later in Towanda; she then stayed home to raise her children and help her husband at the family business in Bloomington, Boylan's Candy; and

WHEREAS, Helen Boylan enjoyed playing bridge, reading, bird watching, and working crossword and jigsaw puzzles; she was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs; and

WHEREAS, Helen Boylan was preceded in death by her husband, James; her daughter, Teresa Boylan; two brothers; and three sisters; and

WHEREAS, Helen Boylan is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (Terry) Longman, Janet (Eric) Mueller, and Karen (Leon) Chism; her sons, Daniel (Jane) Boylan, Patrick Boylan, and Mark (Nancy) Boylan; her grandchildren, Paula and Margaret Longman, Breanna, Mitchell, and Gavin Boylan, John and Anna Mueller, Katherine and Kelly Chism, and William and Katherine Boylan; and her great-granddaughter, Josephine Longman; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Helen A. Boylan and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Helen Boylan as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
