SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Gale Blake Fengel of Canton, who passed away on August 11, 2019; and

WHEREAS, Blake Fengel was born in Canton to Gale E. and Frances (Spenny) Fengel on September 19, 1927; he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific and was at the first test of the atomic bomb on the Bikini Islands; he earned the American Campaign World War II Medal and the Atlantic Pacific Campaign Medal; he married Lorraine M. Walsh in Canton on June 12, 1954; and

WHEREAS, Blake Fengel worked as an electrician at International Harvester for 30 years; he also worked 10 years in the construction field and farmed with his brothers; and

WHEREAS, Blake Fengel was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 68 years; he was also a member of Bartonville American Legion Post 979, Canton VFW Post 1984, the Illinois Retrievers Hunting Club, the American Kennel Club, and the Hunting Retrievers 1000 Club; his dog, Northern Exposure's Hershey, earned a Master Hunter certificate; and

WHEREAS, Blake Fengel was preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; his parents; and his brothers, Gene and Ray Fengel; and

WHEREAS, Blake Fengel is survived by his son, Brian (Tanya) Fengel; his grandchildren, Emily and Blake Fengel; his brother, Don Fengel; and his sister, Rose Marie Fengel; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Gale Blake Fengel and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Blake Fengel as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
