 1                    AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 1668

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill 1668  by  replacing
 3    everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 4        "Section  5.  The Good Samaritan Act is amended by adding
 5    Section 31 as follows:

 6        (745 ILCS 49/31 new)
 7        Sec. 31.  Medical Reserve  Corps;  exemption  from  civil
 8    liability  for  emergency care. The Medical Reserve Corps and
 9    any person who works for or in cooperation with  the  Medical
10    Reserve  Corps  (including,  but not limited to, a physician,
11    nurse,  physician  assistant,   dentist,   health   educator,
12    pharmacist,  toxicologist,  member  of  the  military, mental
13    health practitioner,  psychologist,  social  worker,  clergy,
14    health   interpreter,  veterinarian,  epidemiologist,  dental
15    assistant,   health   care   administrator,   microbiologist,
16    nutritionist, environmental  engineer,  environmental  health
17    specialist,  industrial hygienist, substance abuse counselor,
18    medical equipment expert, medical supply expert, occupational
19    therapist, physical therapist, pharmacy technician, radiology
20    technician, dental technician, or  lab  technician)  and,  in
21    good  faith, provides emergency care without fee shall not be
22    liable for civil damages as a result of his or  her  acts  or

 1    omissions,  except  for  willful  or wanton misconduct on the
 2    part of the person in providing the care.

 3        Section 99. Effective date. This Act  takes  effect  upon
 4    becoming law.".
