 1                    AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 2527

 2        AMENDMENT NO.     .  Amend House Bill 2527 on page 4,  by
 3    replacing lines 20 through 28 with the following:
 4        "Upon the finding of the State Librarian that an existing
 5    library system has failed to meet the criteria established by
 6    this  Act  or  the  rules  authorized  by this Act, the State
 7    Librarian shall give due notice to the library  system  board
 8    to  respond  to  and address the finding. Upon the failure of
 9    the  library  system  board  to  adequately  respond  to  the
10    finding,  the  State  Librarian   may   assume   fiscal   and
11    administrative  responsibility  for  the library system. Upon
12    taking such action, the State Librarian  may  hold  a  public
13    hearing on the action. The process for these actions shall be
14    prescribed by administrative rule.".
