 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS, The members of the House of  Representatives  of
 3    the  State  of  Illinois  are pleased to congratulate Mr. Tim
 4    Gernon on being the recipient of the Beacon  Award  given  by
 5    the Community Alliance; and

 6        WHEREAS,  In  1998, Mr. Gernon helped found and served as
 7    the first president of the Community Alliance,  which  unites
 8    the  charitable  foundations  of  Riverside  Medical  Center,
 9    Provena  St. Mary's Hospital, Kankakee Community College, and
10    Olivet Nazarene University for wide-ranging efforts; and

11        WHEREAS, Some projects that the  Community  Alliance  has
12    focused  on  have  included  heart-saving  defibrillators and
13    education against domestic violence; the group will undertake
14    2 new projects, files of medical information that will fit on
15    refrigerator doors and flashing  porch  bulbs  to  alert  EMT
16    squads; and

17        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Gernon  is  the president of Clancy-Gernon
18    Funeral Homes and is a member of the  Elks,  Moose,  Kiwanis,
19    and  the  Knights  of  Columbus;  he  and his wife, Collette,
20    served as  the  co-chairs  for  the  annual  Bishop  McNamara
21    auction and chaired the school's strategic plan in 2002; and

22        WHEREAS,  Mr.  Gernon  was  the  first  president  of the
23    Kankakee Valley Hospice Board of Directors; he's also  served
24    on the boards of Our Lady of Victory Nursing Home and Provena
25    St.  Mary's  Hospital  Foundation; he is a founding member of
26    the Kankakee Community College Cavalier Club  and  served  on
27    the Olivet capital campaign; therefore, be it

28        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
29    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
30    we  congratulate Mr. Tim Gernon on being the recipient of the
31    Beacon Award, given by the  Community  Alliance;  and  be  it

 2        RESOLVED,  That  a  suitable  copy  of this resolution be
 3    presented to Mr. Gernon as as an expression  of  our  respect
