 1                          HOUSE RESOLUTION

 2        WHEREAS,  The  members   of   the   Illinois   House   of
 3    Representatives  congratulate Russ White of Wilmington on his
 4    retirement as Wilmington school superintendent; and

 5        WHEREAS, Mr. White is retiring on June 30, 2004 after  14
 6    years  with  the  district;  he  also  served  six  years  as
 7    superintendent  at  Crescent  City, and eight years as Cissna
 8    Park principal; he began his  career  in  education  teaching
 9    science  at  Atwood-Hammond  school district outside Decatur;
10    and

11        WHEREAS,  During  his  tenure,  he  has  had  some   very
12    different  ideas about how schools should and could be better
13    funded; in his capacity  of  being  on  the  superintendent's
14    advisory  board for the State Board of Education, he has been
15    an advocate for funding schools through State  income  taxes,
16    while reducing property taxes; and

17        WHEREAS,  Mr. White plans to spend his last year busy; he
18    announced the district will be selling between 1 million  and
19    1.5  million  in  working  cash  bonds  to pay for the recent
20    life/safety work at the high school;  the  bonds  will  cover
21    work  done  to  the  high  school's  roof,  along  with other
22    projects; and

23        WHEREAS, Mr. White plans to stay in  the  area  upon  his
24    retirement;  his wife, Cindy, works as a program assistant at
25    the United States Farm Service Agency in  Bourbonnais;  their
26    daughter,  Amber  is  a  teacher at Minooka and they have two
27    more children, Tamara, and son, Cory;  they  also  have  four
28    grandchildren; therefore, be it

29        RESOLVED,   BY   THE  HOUSE  OF  REPRESENTATIVES  OF  THE
30    NINETY-THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS,  that
31    we  congratulate  Russ White on his retirement after 14 years

 1    of  dedicated  service  as  school  superintendent  for   the
 2    Wilmington  school  district  and wish him well in all of his
 3    future endeavors; and be it further

 4        RESOLVED, That a suitable  copy  of  this  resolution  be
 5    presented  to  Russ White as an expression of our respect and
 6    esteem.
