 1        AN ACT concerning immigrant assistance.

 2        Be  it  enacted  by  the People of the State of Illinois,
 3    represented in the General Assembly:

 4        Section 5. The Attorney General Act is amended by  adding
 5    Section 6.6 as follows:

 6        (15 ILCS 205/6.6 new)
 7        Sec. 6.6.  Office of Immigrant Assistance.
 8        (a)  There  is  in the Office of the Attorney General the
 9    Office of  Immigrant  Assistance.  The  Office  of  Immigrant
10    Assistance  shall  provide education and outreach services to
11    the resident immigrant community of the State. These services
12    shall  include,  but  not  be  limited  to,  developing   and
13    disseminating information regarding the laws that protect the
14    rights  of  consumers,  the  rights  of  employees, the civil
15    rights of residents of the State,  and  other  relevant  laws
16    enforced  and services provided by the Office of the Attorney
17    General.
18        (b)  The information developed by the Office of Immigrant
19    Assistance shall be printed  or  broadcast  in  any  language
20    deemed necessary to reach immigrant communities. Staff of the
21    Office  of Immigrant Assistance shall also provide assistance
22    in  any  language  deemed  necessary  to  service   immigrant
23    communities.

24        Section  99.  Effective  date. This Act takes effect upon
25    becoming law.
