SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois
3 learned with regret of the death of Gary A. Weston of Vienna on
4 Saturday, April 24, 2004; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Gary A. Weston was born April 14, 1952, in Anna to
6 Edward 'Jiggs' Weston and Christine (Aldred) Weston; he was a
7 1970 graduate of Meridian High School, and he was united in
8 marriage to Nina E. (Whiteside) on December 16, 1972, in
9 Mounds; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Mr. Weston retired in May 2002 with 30 years
11 service with the Illinois Department of Corrections; he had
12 attained the rank of Correctional Captain in 1990 then was
13 promoted to the rank of Southern Team Leader for Standards and
14 Accreditation; he was a member and certified auditor with the
15 American Correctional Association and the Illinois
16 Correctional Association; he was also a member of the
17 Correctional Accreditation Managers Association; and
 
18     WHEREAS, Mr. Weston was presently employed by Dyn Corp
19 International with the United Nations as an International
20 Police Officer/Corrections serving in Kosovo; and
 
21     WHEREAS, Mr. Weston was a member of the Cairo Baptist
22 Church and had a very strong faith; he locally attended Gilead
23 Church near Simpson; he was an avid outdoorsman and sportsman;
24 he especially enjoyed golfing, tennis, basketball, hunting,
25 and fishing; he had been a fan of the New York Jets since the
26 days of Joe Namath; and
 
27     WHEREAS, The passing of Gary A. Weston has been deeply felt
28 by his wife, Nina E.; his mother, Christine Weston; his son,
29 Richard N. Weston; his daughters, Rachel A. Weston and
30 Elizabeth E. Weston; his grandchildren, Trey, Derek, Heather,

1 Dalton, and Parker; his brothers, Ben and wife Jan Weston and
2 Ed and wife Susan Weston; his sister, Melinda and husband Ron
3 White; his mother-in-law, Marilyn Whiteside; and his many
4 nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends; therefore, be it
 
5     RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-THIRD GENERAL
6 ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
7 Gary A. Weston, who valiantly gave his life while trying to
8 help others; and be it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of Gary A. Weston as an expression of
11 our sincerest condolences during their time of bereavement.
