1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1377
2     AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1377 as follows:

3 on page 3, immediately below line 5, by inserting the
4 following:
5     "Any hospital defined in this Section that opts to
6 discontinue emergency services described in Section 1 shall:
7         (1) comply with all provisions of the federal Emergency
8     Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA);
9         (2) comply with all provisions required under the
10     Social Security Act;
11         (3) provide annual notice to communities in the
12     hospital's service area about available emergency medical
13     services; and
14         (4) make educational materials available to
15     individuals who are present at the hospital concerning the
16     availability of medical services within the hospital's
17     service area.".
