SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Jack J. Manning of Burr Ridge, who passed
4away on February 28, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Manning was born and raised in Janesville,
6Wisconsin; he attended the University of Wisconsin on a
7basketball scholarship where he was a member of the Sigma Chi
8fraternity and ROTC; he graduated with a degree in economics
9and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean
10War; and
 
11    WHEREAS, After his service, Jack Manning pursued a
12successful business career in the industrial gas industry; he
13worked at Airco Industrial Gases for 35 years, becoming
14Regional Vice-President, and then worked for 5 years at Pressed
15Steel Tank as Vice-President of Sales & Marketing; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jack Manning enjoyed golfing and was a member of
17the Ruth Lake Country Club for 47 years and a former member of
18the Butler National Golf Club for 15 years; he was Director of
19the Western Golf Association, where he devoted much of his time
20to the Evans Scholarship Program; he and his wife enjoyed
21spending their winters at Sun City Grand in Surprise, Arizona;

1    WHEREAS, Jack Manning is survived by his beloved wife of 58
2years, Pat; he was the loving father of Christopher J. Manning
3and Linda (Thomas) Carruthers; devoted grandfather of Jessica
4Carruthers; and dear half-brother of Eric (Sandra) Steffes;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Jack J. Manning, and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Jack Manning as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
