1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing
5Section 3-635 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/3-635)
7    Sec. 3-635. Master Mason plates.
8    (a) The Secretary, upon receipt of all applicable fees and
9applications made in the form prescribed by the Secretary, may
10issue special registration plates designated as Master Mason
11license plates.
12    The special plates issued under this Section shall be
13affixed only to passenger vehicles of the first division or
14motor vehicles of the second division weighing not more than
158,000 pounds.
16    Plates issued under this Section shall expire according to
17the multi-year procedure established by Section 3-414.1 of this
18Code.
19    (b) The design and color of the special plates shall be
20wholly within the discretion of the Secretary. Appropriate
21documentation, as determined by the Secretary, shall accompany
22each application.
23    (c) An applicant for the special plate shall be charged a

1$25 fee for original issuance in addition to the appropriate
2registration fee. Of this fee, $10 shall be deposited into the
3Master Mason Fund and $15 shall be deposited into the Secretary
4of State Special License Plate Fund, to be used by the
5Secretary to help defray the administrative processing costs.
6    For each registration renewal period, a $25 fee, in
7addition to the appropriate registration fee, shall be charged.
8Of this fee, $23 shall be deposited into the Master Mason Fund
9and $2 shall be deposited into the Secretary of State Special
10License Plate Fund.
11    (d) The Master Mason Fund is created as a special fund in
12the State treasury. All money in the Master Mason Fund shall be
13paid, subject to appropriation by the General Assembly and
14distribution by the Secretary, as grants to The Illinois
15Masonic Charities Fund Foundation for the Prevention of Drug
16and Alcohol Abuse Among Children, Inc., a not-for-profit
17corporation, for charitable purposes the purpose of providing
18Model Student Assistance Programs in public and private schools
19in Illinois.
