    Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. To the definition of "person with disabilities", adds persons who are autistic.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing
5Section 1-159.1 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 5/1-159.1)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 1-159.1)
7    Sec. 1-159.1. Person with disabilities. A natural person
8who, as determined by a licensed physician, by a physician
9assistant who has been delegated the authority to make this
10determination by his or her supervising physician, or by an
11advanced practice nurse who has a written collaborative
12agreement with a collaborating physician that authorizes the
13advanced practice nurse to make this determination: (1) cannot
14walk without the use of, or assistance from, a brace, cane,
15crutch, another person, prosthetic device, wheelchair, or
16other assistive device; (2) is restricted by lung disease to
17such an extent that his or her forced (respiratory) expiratory
18volume for one second, when measured by spirometry, is less
19than one liter, or the arterial oxygen tension is less than 60
20mm/hg on room air at rest; (3) uses portable oxygen; (4) has a
21cardiac condition to the extent that the person's functional
22limitations are classified in severity as Class III or Class
23IV, according to standards set by the American Heart

1Association; (5) is severely limited in the person's ability to
2walk due to an arthritic, neurological, oncological, or
3orthopedic condition; (6) cannot walk 200 feet without stopping
4to rest because of one of the above 5 conditions; or (7) is
5missing a hand or arm or has permanently lost the use of a hand
6or arm; or (8) is autistic.
