AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1827

AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1827 by replacing everything after the enacting clause with the following:

"Section 5. The Veterinary Medicine and Surgery Practice Act of 2004 is amended by adding Section 19.2 as follows:

(225 ILCS 115/19.2 new)

Sec. 19.2. Patient requests for prescriptions. Veterinarians shall honor a client's request for a prescription in lieu of dispensing a drug when a veterinarian-client-patient relationship exists and the veterinarian has determined that the drug is medically necessary.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.".
