HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of James E.
4Mayer of Geneva, who passed away on October 26, 2018; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James Mayer was born in Chicago to Harry and Nora
6(Rosenbarger) Mayer on December 27, 1929; he served in the U.S.
7Army during the Korean War and received both his bachelor's and
8master's degrees from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb;
9he received a Master of Business Administration from the
10University of Illinois at Chicago; and
 
11    WHEREAS, James Mayer taught for many years at Coultrap
12Middle School in Geneva; he also served as a Third Ward
13alderman on the Geneva City Council; and
 
14    WHEREAS, James Mayer was an avid sports fan, especially of
15the Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks; he always enjoyed a good meal
16and spending time with family and friends; and
 
17    WHEREAS, James Mayer was preceded in death by his parents;
18his sister, Faye Mallory; and his son, Tom; and
 
19    WHEREAS, James Mayer is survived by his wife of 62 years,
20Mary (Slaymaker); his children, Linda (Scott) Abernethy,

1Andrew (Lillian), and Amy (Davin Wickstrom) Mayer; his
2daughter-in-law, Cynthia Mayer; his grandchildren, Ben (Heidi)
3Popovich, Caroline (Jeff) Oldham, Jake Abernethy, Kelly
4(Peter) Berardi, Alexander Mayer, and Nathaniel Wickstrom;
5therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8mourn the passing of James E. Mayer and extend our sincere
9condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved
10him; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of James Mayer as an expression of our
13deepest sympathy.
