SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Wayne A. Conrady of Lincoln, who passed
4away on October 29, 2017; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wayne Conrady was born in Lincoln to Benjamin
6Franklin and Viola Ferne McChesney Conrady; he graduated from
7Hartsburg-Emden High School and attended Lincoln College; he
8married Lois Elaine Paulus on October 7, 1951; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Wayne Conrady was the owner and operator of Big
10Oak Farms and Big Oak Hunting Paradise; his life and career
11were spent working with livestock, raising crops, and
12advocating for the rural community, agriculture, and natural
13resources; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Wayne Conrady was a member of several local
15organizations, including the Lincoln Jaycees, the Logan County
16Board, of which he was chairman for four years, the Land of
17Lincoln Workforce Board, the Lincoln Elks, the Logan County
18Agriculture Toastmasters, the Logan County Soil and Water
19District, the Logan County Pork Producers, the Illinois Pork
20Producers, the Logan County Angus Association, and the American
21Angus Association; he also served as an agriculture advisor to
22USDA Secretary Edward Madigan and as the Director of the

1American Angus Association; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Wayne Conrady won several awards for his
3contributions to the agriculture industry and his community,
4including Outstanding Young Farmer and the Lincoln Courier Man
5of the Year; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Wayne Conrady's love for life was fueled by his
7active support of his children, grandchildren, and
8great-grandchildren; he was a loyal fan of the Hartem Stags,
9the Lincoln Railers, the Midwest Central Raiders, and, most
10recently, the Mount Pulaski Bruins; he enjoyed attending
11livestock shows and the Farm Progress Show, where he was able
12to see his grandsons' contributions to the agriculture
13industry; he was an active member of St. John United Church of
14Christ, where he served on the church council and in other
15leadership roles; his greatest joys were food, fun, and
16laughter; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Wayne Conrady was preceded in death by his wife,
18Lois; his parents; his brother, Harold (Margaret) Conrady; his
19brother-in-law, Wilbur Paulus; and his son-in-law, Daniel
20Hayes; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Wayne Conrady is survived by his children, Elaine
22Conrady, Carla (Greg) Jurgenson, Jan (Mark) Schleder, Gary

1(Valerie) Conrady; and Greg (Lisa) Conrady; his grandchildren,
2Ryan (Lyndi) Alberts, Alissa (Rob) Smith, Theresa (Justin)
3Kegley, Leanne (Dan) Walton, Caleb (Jordan) Schleder, Sawyer,
4Schuyler, and Sage Conrady, and Cody, Savannah, Wyatt, and
5Shyanne Conrady; his nine great-grandchildren; his brothers,
6Gene (Joyce) Conrady and Benjamin (Rosemary) Conrady; and his
7sister-in-law, Alice Paulus; therefore, be it
 
8    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
9ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
10Wayne A. Conrady and extend our sincere condolences to his
11family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
12further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Wayne Conrady as an expression of
15our deepest sympathy.
