SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Rabbi Barry N. Robinson of Chicago, who passed away on September 12, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Rabbi Robinson served as a computer programmer, an adjunct professor at Northwestern University, and a Daf Yomi teacher; his encyclopedic breadth of understanding of Torah and Talmud, coupled with his depth of knowledge in general studies and clever ways of bringing energy into the classroom, inspired his students and helped him relate to them in ways other teachers did not; even through surgeries and illnesses, he continued to teach and inspire and never let anything get in the way of his students' learning; and

WHEREAS, Rabbi Robinson served as a teacher, mentor, advisor, and friend; he often came to class with Dunkin' Donuts or gave someone his credit card to pay for food for the whole class; his warmth, smile, sense of humor, and wit drew people to him; and

WHEREAS, Rabbi Robinson was the loving husband of Susan N. (Nathan) Robinson, the loving father of Miriam (the late Neal) Stein, Rabbi NeChamia (Miriam) Robinson, Aliza (Rabbi Yakov) Nadav, Rabbi Yakov (Azara) Robinson, and Rabbi Yehoshua (Danielle) Robinson, and the dear grandfather and great-grandfather of many; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Rabbi Barry N. Robinson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rabbi Robinson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
