HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois House of
3Representatives commends the actions of individuals who help
4others who are in trouble; and
 
5    WHEREAS, On January 14, 2019, a car was stuck on a railroad
6crossing near Lombard; and
 
7    WHEREAS, With the Metra Union Pacific West Line rolling in,
8Good Samaritan Steve Spapperi was the first motorist to rush to
9the vehicle and reach the driver; another Lombard resident,
10Justin Mueller, joined the effort as Lombard Officer Dan
11Herrera arrived on the scene; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Together, the three men were able to pull the
1396-year old woman out of the car and carry her to safety;
14seconds later, the car was struck by the train; and
 
15    WHEREAS, The woman did not suffer any injuries; therefore,
16be it
 
17    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
18HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
19we commend the selfless actions and quick thinking of Steve
20Spapperi, Justin Mueller, and Officer Dan Herrera, as they

1saved the life of one of their neighbors; they represent the
2best of the Lombard community and the State of Illinois; and be
3it further
 
4    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
5presented to Steve Spapperi, Justin Mueller, and Officer Dan
6Herrera as an expression of our esteem and respect.
