HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives were devastated to learn of the death of McHenry County Sheriff's Deputy Jacob Keltner, who was killed in the line of duty on March 7, 2019 at the age of 35; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner attended Western Illinois University, where he met the love of his life, Becki; and

WHEREAS, Born in to a law enforcement family, the desire to protect and help others ran in Deputy Keltner's blood; and

WHEREAS, A 13-year veteran of the McHenry County Sheriff's office, Deputy Keltner was beloved by the officers who worked alongside him and the community he served; and

WHEREAS, A great detective and true "cop's cop", Deputy Keltner was selected to serve as a member of the U.S. Marshals Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force; and

WHEREAS, A dedicated officer and lover of adventure, Deputy Keltner bravely volunteered for a team that chased "the worst of the worst" criminal offenders; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of that task force; he is a true hero to his community, to Illinois, and to his family; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner will be remembered as a man who loved his job, his fellow officers, his country, his Cubs, and, most importantly, his family; and

WHEREAS, Deputy Keltner leaves behind a loving wife of 11 years, Becki Keltner, and two young boys, Caleb and Carson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Deputy Jacob Keltner and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, fellow officers, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Deputy Keltner's wife, Becki Keltner, and his family as an expression of our deepest sympathy and in homage to a great man who sacrificed his life to protect others.
