HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Master Chef Timothy Bucci has competed in over 60 
3culinary competitions from 2000 to 2008; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Master Chef Bucci made the American Culinary 
5Federation's Culinary National Olympic Team and competed in 
6Luxemburg and Germany from 2010 to 2012; and
  
 
7    WHEREAS, On March 10, 2019, Master Chef Bucci was the only 
8chef to pass the grueling eight-day test to become an ACF 
9Certified Master Chef; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, The Certified Master Chef test has an estimated 
11pass rate of only 27 percent due to its incredibly high degree 
12of difficulty and assessment of skill, experience, and 
13perseverance; and
  
 
14    WHEREAS, Only 72 chefs have successfully passed the 
15Certified Master Chef exam; and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, There are currently only 67 Certified Master Chefs 
17and only four in Illinois; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Master Chef Bucci is the first and only Master 
19Chef at an Illinois school; and

1    WHEREAS, Certified Master Chef is the highest level of 
2certification a chef can receive; and
  
 
3    WHEREAS, Chefs holding the Certified Master Chef 
4certification have demonstrated the pinnacle of 
5professionalism and skill; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Master Chef Bucci has overcome many obstacles, 
7including heart surgery and a serious kitchen accident, to 
8achieve his dreams; therefore, be it
  
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
10HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
11we commend Master Chef Timothy Bucci on his achievement of 
12Certified Master Chef as part of his illustrious career and 
13dedication to his students and the State of Illinois; and be it 
14further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
16presented to Master Chef Bucci and the Joliet Junior College 
17Culinary Arts Department as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
