HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Kurt
4Robert Heilemann of Portland, Oregon, formerly of Glenview, who
5passed away on July 21, 2020; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Kurt Heilemann was born to Gary Heilemann and
7Rosemary Heilemann in 1978; he graduated from Glenbrook South
8High School in Glenview, where he was captain of the wrestling
9team, senior class president, and prom king; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Kurt Heilemann was a fixture in the food and wine
11scene in Portland, Oregon for 20 years; most recently, he was
12the co-owner of Davenport in Portland, where his wine program
13was a James Beard Award semifinalist in 2019; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Kurt Heilemann was known for having no
15acquaintances, only friends; he maintained many friendships in
16Glenview; he was a devoted Cubs fan, even flying back to attend
17games with his Illinois friends from time to time; when not
18entertaining or helping friends, he was happiest spending time
19on a lake in a forest with a fishing rod in hand; he will be
20remembered for his "gruff teddy bear" persona, his generosity,
21and his genuine nature; and

1    WHEREAS, Kurt Heilemann was preceded in death by his
2father, Gary Heilemann, and his grandparents; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Kurt Heilemann is survived by his mother, Rosemary
4Heilemann; his sister, Anne (Ted) Remington; and his numerous
5uncles, aunts, and cousins; therefore, be it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
8we mourn the passing of Kurt Robert Heilemann and extend our
9sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
10and loved him; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Kurt Heilemann as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
