SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Pastor Victor Hugo Rodriguez of Chicago,
4who passed away on February 11, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Pastor Rodriguez was born in Nuevo Ideal, Durango,
6Mexico to Juanita and Emigdio Rodriguez on January 16, 1967;
7his family moved to the La Villita neighborhood of Chicago when
8he was a young boy; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Pastor Rodriguez joined the La Santisima Trinidad
10Lutheran Church and discovered a passion for preaching; he
11graduated from Christian Life Church and worked as a minister
12for 26 years; he pastored at the La Villita Community Church
13for 20 years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Pastor Rodriguez was a bridge builder between the
15North and South Lawndale communities; he was passionate about
16developing the next generation of leaders and served on many
17community boards, including the Chicago Youth Boxing Club, the
18Lawndale Christian Health Center, and Un Nuevo Despertar; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Pastor Rodriguez was affectionately known as
20"Pastor Vic"; he was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox; he
21had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed good food, movies,

1and riding horses; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Pastor Rodriguez is survived by his wife of 27
3years, Magdalena Rodriguez; his sons, Victor and Isaiah, along
4with Luis Alberto Per-ales, who he considered to be one of his
5own; his mother, Juanita Rodriguez; his brother, Juan Carlos
6Domecq; his sisters, Roxana Gonzalez and Suzana Arambula; his
7"adopted daughter", Yanira Trujillo; and many nieces, nephews,
8extended family, and friends; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Pastor Victor Hugo Rodriguez and extend our sincere condolences
12to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be
13it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Pastor Rodriguez as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
