SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph K. "Joe" West of Peoria, who
4passed away on April 21, 2019; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joe West was born in Dwight to Francis J. and
6Grace E. (Meyer) West on June 18, 1934; he earned his Bachelor
7of Science in Engineering from Bradley University in Peoria in
81950 and married Bernadette Giehl in Metamora on April 18,
91959; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Joe West was employed for 41 years as a civil
11engineer with V. Jobst & Sons and then as a founding member of
12River City Construction; he retired in June of 1999; he was
13involved with TriCon, serving a term as president and on
14multiple construction boards and committees; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Joe West was a member of St. Philomena Catholic
16Church in Peoria, where he was devoted to perpetual adoration
17for several years and served on multiple committees in the
18church; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Joe West enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending
20time with family and friends, playing tennis, his grandsons'
21athletic and extra-curricular activities, spending Sundays at

1the Wedgwood Swim and Tennis Club, and tending to his garden;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Joe West was preceded in death by his parents; his
4brother, Terrance West; and two infant children; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joe West is survived by his wife, Bernadette; his
6children, Susan West, Randall (Bobbie) West, and Jennifer
7(Eric) Bertolet; his grandsons, Randall West, Adam West, Martin
8West, Matthew Bertolet, and Elijah Bertolet; and his sister,
9Ann (Dan Rosenthal) West; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Joseph K. "Joe" West and extend our sincere condolences to his
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Joe West as an expression of our
17deepest sympathy.
