SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Wyllene Francis Abram, who passed away on
4February 17, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Wyllene Abram was born in Goss, Mississippi to
6Nardwell and Flora Toney on February 16, 1931, the second of
7nine siblings; at an early age, she gained a special father in
8Bishop Louis J. Francis; she graduated from Gulfport High
9School in Gulfport, Mississippi in 1949; she later received her
10cosmetology license; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Wyllene Abram began working as a mail handler at
12the U.S. Postal Service in the early 1960s; she later retired
13in 1986; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Wyllene Abram committed to her faith at an early
15age and nurtured that commitment in her children; her favorite
16book in the Bible was Proverbs; she was known as an exceptional
17cook who would freely feed anyone who came into her home; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Wyllene Abram was preceded in death by her
19parents, Nardwell Toney, Bishop Louis J. Francis, and Flora
20Francis; her sons, Mayfield Abram Jr. and Ralph Lockett; her
21daughters, Annette King and Melva Wiley; her brothers, Henry

1Toney, Louis Francis, and Emmit Francis; and her sisters, Doris
2Fuller and Ruth Ann; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Wyllene Abram is survived by her sons, Leavelle
4(Vernita) and Gregory Abram; her daughters, Wanda Goodwin, June
5(Sam) Harris, and Darlene Abram; her 25 grandchildren, her 48
6great-grandchildren; her five great-great-grandchildren; her
7brother, Paul (Shelia) Francis; her sisters, Ruby Francis Terry
8and Connie (Billy) Hicks; and a host of nephews, nieces, other
9relatives, and friends; therefore, be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
12Wyllene Francis Abram and extend our sincere condolences to her
13family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
14further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Wyllene Abram as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
