SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Jack L. Burlison of Elwood, who passed away on May 15, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Jack Burlison was born in Benton to Raymond and Ollie Burlison on May 30, 1936; and

WHEREAS, Jack Burlison delivered Hamm's Beer for 28 years and worked for Consumers Liquors for 30 years; he was an Elwood volunteer fireman for 21 years, a Jackson Township Trustee for 24 years, and a charter member and treasurer of the Elwood Lions Club until it disbanded; and

WHEREAS, Jack Burlison was affectionately called "Crabby"; he was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals all his life; he was able to attend numerous Cardinal World Series games and the 2009 All-Star game that was held in St. Louis; he enjoyed bird watching and playing cards; he loved getting together with family and friends for a good poker game and occasionally visiting the casino; and

WHEREAS, Jack Burlison was preceded in death by his parents; seven sisters; and three brothers; and

WHEREAS, Jack Burlison is survived by his wife, Judy (Heddins) Burlison; his daughter, Cynthia (Clay) Johnson; his son, Jeffrey (Lorie) Burlison; his granddaughters, Christy (Phil) Vojtanek, Jacquelyn (Bobby) Purchase, and Stacey (Cory Campbell) Lohmar; his step-grandchildren, Sarah (Jason) McMillin, Matt Johnson, and Adam (Christina) Johnson; his great-grandchildren, Camden and Kennedy Purchase; nine step-great-grandchildren; and his brother, David Burlison; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Jack L. Burlison and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Jack Burlison as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
