SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lelia Joyce Moore, who passed away on
4December 28, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joyce Moore was born to George Edward and Annie
6Mae (Neil) Martin in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada on November 23,
71924; she immigrated with her family to Chicago when she was
8three; she majored in music at Millikin University and
9graduated with a teaching degree; she was a member and served
10as chapter president of Pi Beta Phi Sorority; she was also a
11member of the Sigma Alpha Iota Music Fraternity; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Upon graduation, Joyce Moore accepted a position
13teaching music in Sullivan, where she met the fellow teacher,
14J.C. Moore, who would become her husband in 1949; they moved to
15Mattoon in 1962, and she then taught music at Franklin
16Elementary School and Jefferson Junior High in Mattoon; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Joyce Moore was an avid reader who loved visiting
18the library; she and her husband were master bridge players and
19accomplished dancers and enjoyed playing golf together,
20especially with their Friday night golf group with friends at
21the Mattoon Country Club; they were both members of the First
22Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years; she was devoted to

1her family and was an inspiration to many; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Joyce Moore was preceded in death by her husband
3and her granddaughter, Stacia Olsen; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Joyce Moore is survived by her three daughters,
5Debbie (Chris) Olsen, Deanna (Chris) Andriano, and Julie (Doug)
6Moore Wolfe; her grandchildren, Matt (Jeanine) Andriano, Paige
7(Kevin) Toth, Lisa (Anthony) Julian, Bryce Olsen, Scott (Jenny)
8Andriano, Travis (Alison Kite) Wolfe, Hannah Wolfe, and Mallory
9Wolfe; and her great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Anna, and Kate
10Andriano, Henry, Sam, and Jack Toth, Jimmy, Emily, and Joseph
11Julian, and Scarlett and Pearl Andriano; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Lelia Joyce Moore and extend our sincere condolences to her
15family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
16further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Joyce Moore as an expression of our
19deepest sympathy.
