HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend Les Morgan of Chatham for his
4selfless volunteer service to the people of the Village of
5Chatham; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Les Morgan was recognized by Chatham with an
7honorary designation on Volunteer Drive at the Village of
8Chatham Board meeting on September 28, 2021; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Les Morgan was recognized for his commitment and
10dedication to his neighbors, which is unparalleled in the
11Village of Chatham; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Les Morgan has been a member of the American
13Legion for more than 20 years and has served as Commander, as
14Post Service Officer, and in the Honor Guard and Color Guard;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Les Morgan was instrumental in the establishment
17and placement of the Veterans' Memorial on the Chatham Square
18and is instrumental in the ongoing upkeep of the memorial,
19which is visited by residents and non-residents alike on a
20daily basis; and

1    WHEREAS, Les Morgan has shown a deep love for our great
2country through raising and lowering the American flag
3throughout Chatham and through the placement of flags at the
4headstones of veterans in Chatham cemeteries, as well as with
5his service on the board of the Family Support Group of the Air
6National Guard and his work with the Military Banner Program;
7and
 
8    WHEREAS, While Les Morgan is a proud member of the Chatham
9community, he is even prouder to be a father of four children
10and a loving husband of over 54 years to his wife, Dodie;
11therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we commend Les Morgan for his years of service to the people of
15the Village of Chatham, and we wish him and his family many
16years of happiness to come; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to Les Morgan as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
