SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Gloria Jean (Schaefer) Medow, a native
4of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, who passed away on July 11, 2021; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gloria Medow graduated from Logan High School in
6LaCrosse, Wisconsin in 1950; she then went to Chicago to
7attend nursing school; she married Robert "Bob" J. Medow in
8Chicago in 1956; they lived in Tustin, Wisconsin, Las Vegas,
9and Henderson, Nevada; they then spent two years on the road in
10their RV before settling first in Kissimmee, Florida and then
11in Clermont, Florida; she then moved back north to Plainfield,
12Illinois and finally to Kenosha, Wisconsin; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Gloria Medow was very proud to work as a nurse;
14she was committed to environmental causes and an avid
15recycler; she supported groups from Greenpeace to the Sierra
16Club; she worked for social justice and ran a local community
17center in Florida; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Gloria Medow was a devoted lifelong Lutheran; she
19loved to spend time with friends and family; she enjoyed
20reading novels, watching movies, playing golf later in life,
21playing cards, and having fun; she also enjoyed telling jokes
22and stories and readily made friends with those who crossed

1her path; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Gloria Medow was preceded in death by her
3husband; her parents, Nicholas Schaefer and Alice (Iverson)
4Comeau; and her beloved sister, Betty (Howard) Warren; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Gloria Medow is survived by her children, David
6(Jane) Medow, Marilyn Medow, and Sandra (Kevin) Mikolas, and
7her grandchildren, Nikolai and Hannah Medow, Alyse (Louis)
8Wenger, and Nathan (Alanna) Mikolas; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
11Gloria Jean (Schaefer) Medow and extend our sincere
12condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
13her; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Gloria Medow as an expression of our
16deepest sympathy.
